7/7/24 Northport (Leland to Northport)

I haven’t posted in awhile, since we stayed in Leland for 3 days. The 3 day stay was planned and it is a good thing as the winds were really blowing up here from the north and that was the direction we were going.

Leland is a very nice Marina located very close to town. Short walk to the grocery store, the Cove restaurant, Riverside restaurant, cutesy stores and most famous of all ice cream. The Leland Municipal Marina is very accommodating, facilities are nice and people tying up there are nice as well. It’s strange how that works. Some marinas the people, including transients are not particularly nice. Take Sister Bay in Wisconsin, not nice at all. Oh well, their loss.

So on 7/6 we left Leland for Northport. The winds were out of the North, which means motor sailing (motor on, main sail up or main sail and Genoa Jib up). The winds eventually changed to the northwest, till not our friend. Conditions were cloudy and chilly, but then the sun came out and it was quite comfortable.

We had to round the Leelanau Peninsula and then a short motor sail to the G Marsten Dame (Northport) Marina. We are going to spend two days here and head to Elmwood Township Marina for two days and the our home for the rest of July, Duncan Clinch Marina (Traverse City).

Having fun.
