Day 16 – Underway

Well we had to wait for 45 minutes for a 50 foot motor boat to put 200 gallons ($800) of fuel in his boat, he could have shared the dock and given us 15 minutes, but noooo! What a ______!

We are under way making 6.3 knots. Yes motor sailing but both sails up. It’s all about time. Very nice, sun is out, it’s a little choppy. Which is probably normal for Green Bay (Go Bears!)

Should be getting to Cedar River around 4:30.

Jeanne’s cousin Alan helped me figure out how the radar works, so that is helpful to spot other boats (there aren’t any).
The shore of the Upper Peninsula looks quite nice. Our apparent wind speed is 10 knots out of the North East. Apparent is different then true. It represents the effect of the forward motion on the wind speed and wind direction. Our true wind speed is 7.6 knots and out of the east. Bottom line, what matters is apparent wind speed and angle. Enough of that.
