Day 10 – Sister Bay (updated with pictures)

Well we are staying in Sister Bay for 5 days. Why? I did this in case we ran into weather and had to stay over in a port. Well we didn’t have to stay over anywhere and we hit all of our reservations. So far so good! So now what do we do for 5 days?

Apparently the villages of Egg Harbor, Sister Bay and Baileys Harbor have reached a detente on the 4th of July fireworks. So the fireworks are on the 3rd, the 4th and the 8th. Guess which day the Sister Bay Fireworks are. Yep the 8th. Oh well.

Had Breakfast at Al Johnson’s, home of the goats on the roof and Swedish pancakes. 50 minute wait, but worth it.

We just went shopping at the Piggly Wiggly about a mile and a half up hill. Now we have to carry the groceries back down, at least it is downhill,

Sister Bay is over run with flatlanders. People everywhere. But still a nice town.

As it relates to the harbor not bad, crowded, but the facilities are the worse that we have been to so far. Showers not so great.

Going to visit with our friends from Curling Bev and Ralph Laurell. They have a home in Gils Rock.

So far given a choice I would have liked to have stayed longer in Sturgeon Bay or Egg Harbor.

Well that’s all for now, check back later.

I thought you used to go to school uphills both way in the snow. Now your complaining about a little walk?

This was definitely uphill both ways and we are going to do it again.

We stayed at a friend’s house in Gils Rock on our honeymoon. It was just a few houses down the road from the launch to Washington Island. A lovely spot. A fish boil is must, very yummy! Al Johnsons also yummy. July 4 in Door County would be very crowded, I would guess. Just make sure when you sail out that you avoid Port de Morte.

Jeanne and I both remembered that honeymoon. Was your friend that owned the house by Gils Rock a dentist.
