Day 17 – Heading to Washington Island
On day 16, which I couldn’t fill in yesterday because we were without (gasp) Internet access. We dodged an ominous thunderstorm by heading back towards Menominee until it passed and then turning back towards Cedar River when it hit Menominee.
Going into Cedar River was quite exciting as it is shallow and not well marked. Plus we had strong winds complicating matters.
All good, so we get all tied up and opened a cold beer and some neighbors came by to tell us that there was a guy who was a dick had taken over our slip. Long story short they suggested we move over one slip to avoid a conflict. We did, he was.
Now we are are actually sailing at 5.6 knots towards Washington Island. Sweet.
We are going to stay at Island Outpost instead of Shipyard to avoid having to navigate the shallow channel in Detroit harbor.
We should arrive at our destination around 3:00.
This being under sail is awesome
