Day 18 – Layover in Washington Island

Well Washington Island has clearly the nicest people, so far. Weather is a bit iffy so we are going to harbor here for Monday and leave for Leland on Tuesday. Could be a bit windy, but that’s what sailboats like (as well as Jeanne and I). So forecast varies from 10 – 20 knots to 5 – 10 knots. Both we can handle. With this boat. It weighs 14,000 pounds so good stability. While we are at it here are some other interesting numbers. She holds 88 plus gallons of water (there seems to a 3rd tank that is not in the specification), holding tank (waste) holds 22 gallons, which is not enough, holds 39 gallons of fuel. There is a 35 HP Universal Diesel engine, draws 4.6 feet (depth), has a wing keel, refrigerator, air conditioner, heat and 2 – 4D batteries (really big). Enough of that.

Going to do some grocery shopping in the borrowed car. First we are going to have some of Jeanne’s famous pancakes. Life is hard.
