Day 29 Going to St. Ignace

So first I am going to give a review of the Grand Hotel (Day 28). It was mostly terrible. The waiter for Anne Marie’s birthday dinner was very inattentive, we asked for our prime rib to be rare to medium rare. It was well done. The sommelier recommended a wine that he liked a lot and then he didn’t know a thing about it. So the restaurant s@cked.
Not all was lost we enjoyed the porch where we spent several hours sipping drinks and had a great server.

All in all our stay at the Grand did not meet our expectations. I would not recommend it.

Now on to day 29. We took the carriage down into town where Seamus coined a funny phrase. He was buying fudge and was buying two different batches which he called the eating fudge (consume in the next couple of days) and the long term fudge (fudge to take home and make last). It certainly made sense to us.
They got dropped off and bought their fudge.

We then took off from the Marina and had to dodge ferries (“wear boots and ya got to believe it”, a little Black Sabbath). Finally got out into the open water and did some sailing. Yes, you heard me right, sailing. We had some good winds from 14 – 19 knots. Then we got into a spot behind land where we had good wind but no waves.
Went into St. Ignace and now we are just chilling.

Tomorrow, back to Mackinaw City and the kids leave on Sunday (:-(

So sorry to hear that about the Grand Hotel. They used to have a stellar brunch. How were the rooms? Mom said she didn’t like seeing visible plumbing pipes running across the room near the ceiling. Have they updated that?

The brunch wasn’t bad, nothing stellar. I thought the room was ok. We had a great balcony that we reserved. So I would say the room was adequate.
