Day 38 – What a SAIL

After leaving Northport with Jeanne, Michael and I we had a sailing day for the ages.
we left the harbor and caught wind and headed North East at around 5 knots under sail.
We spotted an island named Bellows Island and decided to sail behind it to the leeward side (downwind) of the island. There we discovered a whole bunch of anchored boats where people were swimming.

After passing the island we came about and tacked to the east. All under sail at around 5 – 6 knots. After sailing into the middle of the west bay of Grand Traverse bay we tacked again onto a port tack.

Then the fun really took off. We sailed down the middle of the west bay for the next 5 hours at 6-7 knots of speed and had wind speeds of 12 to 20 knots. Peen honin performed wonderfully. We were very comfortable.

It was a sailing day for the ages!
