Day 44 – Leaving Ludington for Muskegon
We are going to go on the longest single leg of our trip as we go to Muskegon to wait out dome predicted storms on Sunday / Monday. The plan is to hunker down in Muskegon until Tuesday.
We left Ludington to every Lake Michigan sailors dream, winds out of the East (or West). We are currently going our hull speed (maximum) of 7 knots in the direction that we are planning around Little Sable Point. Wind speed 15 knots.
the prediction is for the winds to come around to the Southeast at some point. Which will change things.
We had a nice stay in Ludington which has changed a lot since we were last there 41 years ago.
Ludington got its start as a Lumber town. Now it is also home to the Badger car ferry. The single largest polluter of Lake Michigan, but still fun for some. More to come.

August 6, 2023So happy to hear you guys are finally getting some real wind! (And not just from the famous Ludington chili)
Ok, I know that’s not a thing, but it would be funny if it were, so let’s pretend
