Day 52 – It’s Not Supposed To End Like This
It’s our last day! It was supposed to be a remembrance stay in Burnham. This was to celebrate when Jeanne and I first started sailing together. That didn’t happen.
Then a glorious August day with sun and wind as we sailed along the shore by Touhy Beach and the old hood.
Instead the weather is calling for increasing winds and waves to a North Easter status.
So we got up at 2:00 am, left at 2:30 and are motor sailing into a East North East wind. Waves are 2-4 feet and not particularly comfortable, but I found a tolerable angle to the waves. Fingers crossed.
We are seeing first light. Kinda cool. The boat is bouncing so much that it is hard to take a picture. For those of you keeping track from home. The bounce is gentle, at least to me.
Should be in Waukegan by 8. I hope.

August 14, 2023A bad ending for an epic adventure. At least you got a great photo of Peen honin on your last morning of the trip and made it to shore before the really bad weather hit.
